Originally named Roberts Island, Ramrod was later named for an early 19th century ship that wrecked on a reef south of the island. Although ships no longer wreck here, the waters surrounding Ramrod are a playground for boaters, anglers, kayakers, paddleboarders and snorkelers. Ramrod Key is located at Mile Marker 27.
